MEDIAPRINT OLD TIRANA

The title "Old Tirana" defines the territory - Tirana, and the time span - from antiquity to 1945. In fact, the adjectives "new" or "old" carry relative meaning, which changes over time, but today and many years hence the above determination will, I believe, be valid. As far as the territory is concerned, it is limited by the space occupied by the district of Tirana, but mainly the constructions, monuments and everything else related to our capital will be in the spotlight. The title could have been different: "Beautiful Tirana", because our old city was very beautiful. The publication "Old Tirana" authored by Gazmend A. Bakiu was simultaneously conceived as an album; in this way, the old Tirana becomes more perceptible and more concrete. The photographs are always dated before 1945, and almost 99% of them are part of the author's collection on cardboard. Mainly in 2003, but also later, the author photographed buildings or monuments, for which there are no old photographs;
