In the poem ILIAD, it is shown what happened during the last weeks of the Trojan war, in which the Greeks and the Trojans met. The city of Troy, which is located in Asia Minor, was then also called Ilion, so the story bears the title Iliad. But how did the Iliad begin? It began with the anger of Achilles, the greatest Greek hero, from the insult that King Agamemnon had done to him. How much damage and how much pain that war would cause! The beautiful words with which Homer sang this story have made it leave a mark in time, until our days. Although nothing is known for certain, in the 8th century BC, a Greek poet named Homer, who is said to have been blind, composed a wonderful poem called the Iliad, which recounts the exploits of Achilles and the heroes of others in the Trojan War. It is also said that Homer then created the poem Odyssey, a story that tells about the adventures experienced by Odysseus, Ulysses, since he left Troy after the end of the war, until he arrived ten years later in his homeland, in Ithaca. The two works were the first oral, sung poems that were later written. But the truth is that none of this is certain, there are even those who say that Homer did not exist... However, the Iliad is a wonderful poem, which was composed many, many years ago, about eight thousand years ago first! It is written in Greek and is thought to have 15,693 verses.
