Description

The story of June, the 8-year-old boy whom his grandfather called the wren, a playful, talkative child at school, who likes to have fun, make jokes, but one day, unfortunately, a gray cloud covered his life his. The world turned upside down under his feet. His grandfather dies. June turns into a speechless child, gloomy and sad. Of course, his family is shocked, June asks himself many questions, his thoughts swirl and become a mess in his head. The boy does not know how to tell these thoughts to his parents, and when he manages to ask them some questions, the latter do not give exactly the answers that the boy expects to learn. Everything gets confused in his mind. When a child asks about the death of a relative there are two sides, what the adults tell him and what the child understands himself. Even the boy Jun is faced with the answers that his family members give him, for example, his grandmother tells him: "grandfather is next to you and watching you". Juni worries: "Was Grandpa staring at me the whole time? Even when I don't behave wisely? Because if that's the case, he won't love me anymore?" This worries the boy a lot. Or his father says: "Jun, your grandfather is up in the sky." Then Juni, although he does not fully believe it, imagines the grandfather lying on the boat on a cloud and he raises his head towards the sky. Then the grandmother who says: "Your grandfather is happy now". June does not accept this, because death is something terrible and you cannot be happy at all. So the boy doesn't understand anything. By thinking he manages to find a solution. He thinks that since he cannot talk about death and his grandfather with his parents and grandmother, since this communication is missing or is little, he decides to write letters to his grandfather, in the hope that he will receive an answer, or at least some signal will come. Thanks to the letters, he manages to evolve and talk to his parents, until he finally comes to understand that he should not wait for answers to his questions, that when a man leaves life, he leaves forever, and although the grief and absence of his grandfather will be felt somewhat less, his memory will remain forever, that: "the memory of a loved one when he leaves this life should be passed on to generations".

A special book, full of feelings, entertaining and sometimes humorous, honest and touching. The text is beautiful, flowing, with rich vocabulary and has been very well received by readers in France. There were also very positive comments about the cover and the quality of the publication. It's a subject not often addressed in literature, and here it is treated with great sensitivity. Thanks to such literature, parents and teachers can easily answer children's questions about death.
