Albas Mary Kyri

This distinguished French scientist and selfless, of Polish origin (born in Warsaw); she was lucky enough to live her childhood in a cultured family, in love with literature and eager for knowledge. After completing her studies at the Sorbonne, her research led to the discovery of radioactivity, thorium and radon. She married Pier Kyrina, with whom they worked intensively and together they discovered polonium and radium, both being awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. After her husband's death, she founded the Radium Institute, which, during the First World War, contributed efficiently to the use of X-rays to help the wounded. In 1911 he was awarded the Nobel Prize again, this time in chemistry, thus becoming the only man in history to have received this award twice.
